This was our first time in China and wandorld made it so easy. Rocky met us at the airport with a sign, explained everything in clear English and never rushed us. Forbidden City in the morning before the buses, cable car up to Mutianyu, then the night train to Xi'an for the terracotta warriors. My mother is 71 and she walked the whole wall. Highly recommend.

Dear wandorld team, I want to say thank you for Chongqing. Our guide Leo was so patient with my parents who cannot walk long. He carried the wheelchair, he find the elevator, he even take photos of us. The night river cruise was beautiful and Hongyadong after dark is magic. We will come back with our friends.

8 days around Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou with our guide Anna. Pandas in the morning before the crowds, then the five colored lakes — honestly better than the photos. On the second day Anna changed our hotel because the room was too small for our family, no argument, no extra money. Very professional team.

We only had 4 days in Shanghai but it felt like two weeks because everything was already organized. Hotels, train tickets, the tea house, even a doctor for my daughter's fever at 1 am. Kelly knew which places were tourist traps and quietly steered us away from them. The Bund at night was the highlight for the kids.

12 days in Yunnan with wandorld. Sunny is 24 and knew every viewpoint on the road to Shangri-La. We cycled part of Erhai lake, walked the old town of Lijiang, and saw Jade Dragon snow mountain in perfect weather. The day after us the cloud covered it completely. Lucky or well planned, I am not sure.

とても良い旅になりました。ガイドのEricさんは日本語が堪能で、とても辛抱強い方です。到着した日はあいにくの雨でガラスの橋は通行止めでしたが、10分で行程を組み替えて、99のカーブが続く山道へ案内してくださいました。同行した誰も文句を言いませんでした。ホテルは清潔、食事も美味しく、料金も妥当でした。

Beijing with a 74-year-old mother is not easy. Mandarin Oriental, Beijing solved it before we asked — a room facing the Forbidden City roofline, dark wood, screens and stone, very Chinese without feeling like a set. Our guide Anna got us into the palace at 9 am before the buses, and the car waited whenever her knees said enough.

Je voyage beaucoup, mais c'est la première fois que je n'ai pas eu à réfléchir une seule fois. Dès notre arrivée à Pékin, tout était prêt — la voiture, les billets, l'eau dans le frigo. Nina a répondu à mon message à 23 h quand mon fils avait perdu son porte-passeport, et on l'a retrouvé dans le canapé de l'hôtel. Merci encore.

Wandorld arrange halal food for us in Xi'an and Chengdu without me asking twice. Frank drove us to the Muslim quarter in the evening and waited outside while we ate. The terracotta warriors are smaller than I expected but the stories he told made it worth it. Jiuzhaigou in autumn with the red leaves is unreal.

We came to Jiuzhaigou for the lakes and stayed for the valley. Rissai Valley, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve is 87 villas in the trees, ours with a private courtyard facing the Minshan peaks. Our butler Drolma lit the fire before we asked, and brought ginger tea when my husband's altitude headache hit. Enormous luxury, quietly done.

I have stayed in many Amans and Amanyangyun is the strangest and best — 78 Ming and Qing houses rebuilt here among 400-year-old camphor trees. We arrived wrecked from a red-eye; by the second cup of tea in the old tea house my shoulders had dropped. Shanghai gave us the skyline, Amanyangyun gave us the sleep.

Jinmao Purelax sits on the Ganhaizi meadow at 3,100 m against the eastern face of Jade Dragon snow mountain — the mountain fills the whole wall of glass above the bed. Floor heating, Naxi blankets, a private balcony. As guests we walked past the ticket queue at 7.40 am and had Blue Moon Valley almost to ourselves.
